A performance based fire engineering design was adopted to ensure that fire protection and life safety issues were addressed with minimal impact on the heritage and cultural integrity of the building. Sprinklers, smoke detection and smoke control integrated into the existing building fabric with minimal impact on historic and aesthetic features.
