Client: Ramford Ltd. Architects: Daniel Libeskind

Capacity: 2111

Grand Canal Theatre is a brand new 2,111 capacity purpose built theatre, designed by world renowned architect Daniel Libeskind.  The building is an outstanding addition to Ireland’s Theatre world.  The theatre has been designed as a receiving house for musicals, ballet and opera and will be operated by Live Nation.

This unique project required a performance based fire engineering design in order to meet project objectives as prescriptive codes could not accommodate the architectural vision and functional requirements of the design.

Performance based fire engineered design provided significant advantages in achieving the innovative and functional architectural design. The integrated sprinkler and smoke control systems allowed a more open design with reduced exit widths and increase in useable areas.

MSA have an ongoing role, providing fire safety training and fire safety management.
