Controlled areas were integrated with the fire safety strategy to provide both secure and safe means of escape. MSA advised during all stages of the design of this main passenger terminal to the UK.
The Terminal was designed for high speed catamaran ferry services between Dun Laoghaire and North Wales. The building caters for Arrivals and Departures areas with baggage handling and restaurants and shops.
Performance based design provided significant advantages in achieving this innovative and functional architectural design. The fire safety design allowed open spaces to optimise circulation and flexibility in the evacuation regime to minimise disruption.
