A 13 storey office block provided over a three storey basement car park. MSA provided planning and fire certificate application services. A phased evacuation strategy allowed stair cores to be rationalised improving lettable space.
Montevetro forms part of the Master Plan for the Barrow Street and Grand Canal Dock area in the South Docklands of Dublin. It will be one of the tallest buildings in the City. This Iconic, and landmark building, Montevetro will comprise approximately 19,400 sq m of contemporary office accommodation over 15 floors . Up to 80 car parking spaces will be provided over three levels of basement.
MSA played a key role in this iconic building by providing structural fire engineering and fire safety engineering. The design objectives were to maximise the office floor plate, and ensure flexibility of use and different tenancies throughout. Performance based fire engineered design provided significant advantages in achieving these objectives by using detailed egress calculations. In addition MSA’s performance based approach allowed flexible fire-fighting facilities to meet the functional requirements of the design and Regulatory requirements.
The steel structure was also analysed to determine its ‘real’ response under fire conditions to determine the extent of fire protection required. The finite-element analysis reduced construction costs and added significant value to the project. This approach could not have been adopted without MSA’s specialist structural knowledge.
